FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Where are you located?

We're nestled in the beautiful foothills between McLaren Vale & Willunga, just a short drive from Adelaide. Our address is provided upon booking.

What happens in an EAL session?

Sessions vary, depending on the session type and the individual's or group's needs. However, the first session will typically involve a short safety demonstration, grooming/getting to know your horse and an exercise, such as leading your horse around an obstacle course. At the end of a session we may take some time to reflect and talk about how we can apply what we have learnt to our everyday life.

Do we get to ride the horses?

Currently all of our sessions are based on the ground, no riding is involved.
However, we are currently trialling a horse who may be able to be used for mounted (ridden) sessions in the near future.

Do I need previous horse experience?

Absolutely not! We will go over everything you need to know in your first session, including a safety demonstration.

What do I wear?

Sessions are outdoors. Wear clothes that are suitable for getting a bit dirty!

Enclosed shoes that are appropriate for walking outdoors are NON-NEGOTIABLE.

Long pants are preferable, such as leggings or jeans.

Jacket/Raincoat if weather appropriate.

Be SunSmart, wear a hat & sunscreen.

Don't forget a water bottle!

Please, do not wear excessively baggy clothing or accessories such as scarfs, dangly earrings or other loose jewellery - these may get caught.

Can we take photos?

As a lot of the work we is considered confidential, please ask before taking any photos of the session, animals or property.

What about the weather?

If it is too hot, wet or windy, we will contact you to reschedule your session.
Sessions do not run if it's scheduled over 30°C, unless it is an evening session.

When should I arrive?

Arriving 5 minutes early to allow for introductions is perfect! However, please be respectful of other sessions and do not arrive more than 10 minutes earlier than your session time.

Please note, appointment times will not be extended if you are running late.
